Paul Hache Claims 2008 Dundee Wealth Management NB Senior Championship

For Gowan Brae’s Paul Hachey, Friday's final round of the Dundee Wealth Management NB Senior Championship was just a familiar stroll around his home course. Hachey calmly fired a 1 over par 73 to collect his 1st Dundee Wealth Management NB Senior Championship. Hachey finished at 2 over par for the championship, good enough for an 8 shot victory. Hachey had a solid start shooting even par, 36, on the front 9 and continued his consistent play, bogeying 10 and shooting pars the rest of the way through to finish one over par at 73.

Taking 2nd place in an impressive fashion was fellow Gowan Brae golfer, Gilles Masse. Masse was all business Friday, opening with 3 straight birdies to go on and finish one under par on the front. On the back he finished 2 under, with birdies on 10, 12, 14 and 17, finishing at 69, the lowest round of the championship. He finished at +10 with a 3-day total of 226.

Joining Paul Hache and Gilles Masse on the 2008 NB Men’s Senior Team are John Brown of the Riverside Country Club and Herrick Hansen of the Aroostook Valley Country Club. Brown and Hansen shared 3rd place with 3-day totals of 229 finishing at +13. Brown fired a final round 75 while Hansen posted 76 to finish the championship.

In the Super Senior Category, Riverside’s Grant Dickison claimed victory in his first year of eligibility, shooting 82 on Friday. He finished +27, just two stokes ahead of Riverside’s Bill Bishop who was the 2007 NB Super Senior Champion.

Hachey, Masse, Hansen and Brown will now head off with non-playing captain Tom Leitch to play in the 2008 Canadian Men’s Senior Championships to be held at the Sault Ste. Marie Golf Club in Sault St. Marie, ON from September 8th-12th, 2008. In 2007, New Brunswick was represented by Guy MacKnight (Country Meadows), Herrick Hansen (Aroostook), Greg Blake (Fredericton) and Gary Greene (Covered Bridge). In total, 119 players took part in the 2008 Dundee Wealth Management NB Senior Championship.
