2008 NB Mixed Championship

Richardson & Jones Reign Once Again

For the 6th consecutive year, and 7th time, the Country Meadows duo of Leanne Richardson & Greg Jones continue to make their mark in New Brunswick Golf. Richardson & Jones successful defended their previous 5 titles to win the 2008 NB Mixed Championship at the Petitcodiac Golf & Country Club.

Their winning streak is greatly attributed to their experiences and past successes in competitive golf. Richardson & Jones won the championship by a commanding 10 shot marting over Allison Chisholm & Wally Peacock of Riverside. The champions began their day with 2 bogeys, 5 pars & 2 birdies on the front nine to make the turn at even par. On the back nine they rallied for 4 birdies to finish 3 under on the back, for an 18 hole score of -3 (68), and a 36 hole tournament score of -5 (137).

Finishing in 2nd was Allison Chisholm & Wally Peacock of Riverside. The Riverside team began the day only 2 shots behind the leaders but could not make up the difference and finished the second round with a +5 (76) for a two day total of +5 (147).

In the Overall Net championship, the father and daughter team of Shane and Hayley Wilson of the host Petitcodiac Valley Golf & Country Club continued their strong play to win the net division with a two day total of net, 124 (64 & 60). The Wilsons finished the day with a 3-shot victory over Warren Lingley & Denise Snow of Westfield.
