2008 NB Mixed Championship
 
Defending Champions Lead the Field
 
As the first round of the NB Mixed Championship came to an end on Saturday at the Petitcodiac Golf Clubs, 5-time defending champions, Leanne Richards & Greg Jones of Country Meadows sit at the top of the leaderboard at the end of the first day. Richardson and Jones posted an opening round of -2 (69). The Country Meadows duo started with a birdie on the first hole, followed by 8 pars on the front 9 to go -1 at the turn. With 8 more pars and a birdie at the 11th hole finished off their round at -2.
 
Pat Flanagan & Paula Napke-Flanage of Miramichi, along with Alison Chisholm & Wally Peacock of Riverside are tied for 2nd at even par 71. Holding 4th place is the father daughter duo of Charles & Kristi Vienneau. The Vienneaus are only 5 shots off the pace going into the final round of the championship. Sunday will highlight our province’s best Mixed Teams as they will fight for the provincial title.
 
Perry & Alexandra LeBlanc of Country Meadows hold a narrow lead in the gross portion of Division 2. The LeBlanc’s shot an 83 in the first round to hold a 1 shot lead over Ron Gagnon of Country Meadows & Karen Cormier of Gowan Brae and Kirk & Mona Meldrum of Sackville.
 
Division 1 net sees a tie between last year’s net champions, Shane & Hayley Wilson of Petitcodiac with Warren Lingley & Denise Snow of Westfield. Division 2 has a 3-team tie for first with: Perry & Alexandra LeBlanc of Country Meadows, Kirk & Mona Meldrum and Wynn & Wendy Meldrum also from Sackville.  
 
The 2nd and final round of the NB Mixed Championship will begin at 7:30am. The leaders will be teeing off last at 12:50pm.
