1. Field Size

Maximum of 180 competitors.
Twenty-five (25) spots are reserved for female entries. Spots are reserved for the top 15 (and ties) male and the top female Bantam/Midget competitors as determined at the NB Bantam/Midget Championship (see NB Bantam/Midget Championship for further details).

2. Eligibility

This event is open to golfers who have not reached their nineteenth (19) birthday on or before August 8, 2008

NOTE:  Midget & Bantam aged players must first qualify for the NB Junior by playing in the NB Midget / Bantam Championship, to take place at the Magnetic Hill Golf & Country Club (July 7-8th). 

All Players must be in possession of an RCGA/USGA handicap card that has been properly attested. Teams with at least one player being a member of the New Brunswick Golf Association (NBGA) will be given entry preference. All teams allowed entrance in the event are eligible to be named champions.

3. Divisions

Junior: A player is a junior if they have not reached their nineteenth (19) birthday on or before midnight; Male: August 8, 2008, Female: August 9, 2008.

Juvenile: A player is considered of juvenile age if they have not reached their seventeenth (17) birthday by midnight; Male: August 8, 2008, Female: August 9, 2008.

Midget / Bantam: A player is considered of midget age if they have not reached their fifteenth (15) birthday on or before midnight;
Male: August 8, 2008,
Female: August 9, 2008.

4. Automotive Transportation

The use of automotive transportation is not permitted.

5. Format

54-hole stroke play championship. The event is played in 18-hole stipulated rounds over three consecutive days.
A cut to the low sixty (60) competitors and ties will be made after the second round. The low 21 male golfers and ties after 54 holes, who meet the RCGA's eligibility requirement will advance to the Team Trials.

6. Prizes

Gross and Net Champions will be awarded trophies.

The NBGA will provide a prize to the low medalist in round 1. This competitor will be presented the Peter Walton trophy.

The Junior, Juvenile, and midget champions for the event will be invited guests of the New Brunswick Golf Association at the Association's Annual Awards dinner scheduled for the Memramcook Institute on October 25th, 2008.

9. Tee Times/ Draw Information

Tee times will begin at 7:00 am with groups going out in threesomes. Where possible, competitors will all tee-off hole number 1. Tee-times will be in 9 minute intervals.

The first day tee-times, where possible, will be done by handicap within age categories beginning with Juveniles, followed by Juniors, then Bantam/Midgets. Attempts will be made to have individuals from different clubs paired together and with the defending champion teeing off first.

The second day tee-times will be in reverse order of first round scores within age categories beginning with Juniors, followed by Juveniles, then Bantam/Midgets.

The third day tee-times will be in reverse order of combined first & second round scores.

Atlantic Championship (boys)

Junior Team Selection:
The top four junior aged competitors from the 2nd round of the NB Junior / Juvenile championship, aged 17 and 18 who have not reached their nineteenth (19) birthday on or before August 8, 2008 will make up the NB Atlantic Championship Junior Team.

Juvenile Team Selection:
The top four juvenile aged competitors from the 2nd round of the NB Junior / Juvenile championship, aged 15 and 16 who have not reached their seventeenth (17) birthday on or before August 8, 2008 will make up the NB Atlantic Championship Juvenile Team.

Midget Team Selection:

The Midget champion, as selected from the 2 rounds of the Midget/Bantam Championship at Magnetic Hill will automatically be named to represent the NBGA at the Atlantic Team Championships.  The remaining 3 spots on the Midget Team, and the alternate spot, will be selected from the top 3 midget players after the 2 rounds of the Midget / Bantam and the first 2 rounds of the Junior / Juvenile Championships.  Players must not have reached their fifteenth (15) birthday on or before August 8, 2008.


The fifth (5) place competitor in each category will be designated the team alternate in case an individual is unable to attend the championship.

The teams will travel to Gowan Brae Golf & Country Club, NB to compete in the Atlantic Championships.
