NB Junior/Juvenile Championship

The 3rd round of the 2008 Austin Drisdelle Realty NB Junior/Juvenile Championship ended the championship rounds today at the Fredericton Golf & Curling Club. The junior/juvenile champions were crowned in both the boys & girls divisions.
Stephane Boudreau of Fox Creek rebounded to take the provincial title. Boudreau to shoot even par (70) today today to finish the 54-hole championship with a total score of +6 (216). Boudreau took the title by a 2-shot margin over Moncton’s Colin Manning. Boudreau made 4 bogeys, 9 pars & 5 birdies through the 3rd round. Boudreau will be a member of the NB Provincial Junior Men’s Team when they travel to the Edmonton Petroleum Golf & Country Club in Edmonton, Alberta, August 4th – 8th, 2008 to compete in the Canadian Junior Men’s Championship.
The final 3 spots on the provincial men’s teams will be decided tomorrow as the top 21 players, including ties will fight for the remaining positions. Boudreau has an exemption from competing in Thursday’s team deciding round.
The Juvenile Men’s Champion was Neil Roberts of Westfield. Roberts took the title by defeating Justin Richard of Fox Creek & Stefan Bielecki from the host club. Roberts finished the tournament with a 54-hole score of +9 (219). All 3 players will compete in tomorrow’s competition for the NB Junior Men’s Team positions.
Jennifer Armstrong of Riverside continued her strong play and took the girls title by an 18 shot margin. Armstrong fired an 81 in the girls’ final round of play for a 54-hole total of +29 (248). Finishing in 2nd place was Jennifer Whelan also of Riverside. The NB Provincial Girls Team will travel to the St. Charles Country Club, in Winnipeg, Manitoba on August 4th – 8th, 2008..Sunningdale Golf Club in London; ON to compete in the Canadian Junior Girls Championship. The NB team will consist of; Armstrong, Jennifer Whelan, Morgan Matchett & Meaghan Higgins.
Jennifer Armstrong also took the Juvenile Girls title as she is still in the age category declared as a Juvenile.
On the third day of play, the Juvenile and Junior Champions (boys & girls) will have been determined along with the Junior Girls Atlantic & Provincial team. The top 21 and ties for the boys will move onto the fourth and final day of play, which is the NB Junior Boys team trials, to determine the additional 3 team spots (the Junior Male champion automatically receives a berth on the team).
