New Brunswick Junior Men’s Team Announced

The 4^th & final round of the 2008 Austin Drisdelle Realty NB Junior/Juvenile Championship ended today as the top 21 players, including ties, fought for the final 3 team positions in order to attend the national championship.

Stephane Boudreau of Fox Creek, who won the championship yesterday, was not required to participate in today’s team trials. Today’s final round resulted in Colin Manning of Moncton, Neil Roberts of Westfield, and Calvin Blacquier taking the final three positions on the NB Junior Men’s Team. Blacquier defeated Matt Layden of Fox Creek in a 3 hole aggregate playoff to earn the last team spot. The 4 player team will participate at the Canadian Junior Championship at the Edmonton Petroleum Golf & Country Club in Edmonton, Alberta, August 4^th – 8^th, 2008 to compete in the Canadian Junior Men’s Championship.

The New Brunswick Golf Association, a not for profit organization founded in 1934, is the official governing body for amateur golf in New Brunswick. In January of 2006, the NBGA officially merged with the New Brunswick Ladies Golf Association (NBLGA), resulting in one united governing body for amateur golf in the province. Programs offered by the NBGA to its 15,000 members include: 18 provincial championships, rules of golf education, course rating and handicap services, junior golf development programs and member club marketing initiatives.
